The word "diamond" comes from the ancient Greek word ad├ímas, which means unbreakable. If the diamond has imperfections and some tiny flaws, it could break or disintegrate.

One of enduring diamond myths is that diamonds and coal are the same, with diamonds being made from pressurized coal. This is now true.

It is true that both coal and diamonds are formed from carbon, under the Earth's surface. But the carbon that forms diamonds is much more pure, and it takes much more heat and pressure to create diamonds. This is what makes them unique and rare.
